Newcastle United 2000/01 away jersey
Newcastle United wore this away in 2000/01. adidas made it, NTL was on the front: black, sky blue and white.
NTL's first season, replacing Newcastle Brown Ale.
On the garment, the tell is the white-trimmed collar, adidas shoulder stripes. We read that, the neck label and the tag before we call one original.

The print gets you close, the colour finishes it
Every Newcastle jersey of the era was adidas, so the sponsor is the tell. Newcastle Brown Ale ended in 2000, NTL ran 2000/01 to 2002/03, and Northern Rock took over from 2003/04.
Newcastle United wore adidas with the NTL print in 2000/01, 2001/02 and 2002/03. Only in 2000/01 was the away black, sky blue and white, so the colour settles it. For 2000/01 the tell is the white-trimmed collar, adidas shoulder stripes.
The six checks we run on any jersey — the label code, the sleeve badge, the print, and what none of them prove.
What an early-2000s original costs — real asking prices, and the reproduction price an original has to clear.
