Newcastle United 2004/05 away jersey
Newcastle United wore this away in 2004/05. adidas made it, Northern Rock was on the front: navy, sky blue and white.
Bobby Robson was sacked in August, Graeme Souness took over in September, and Newcastle finished 14th.
On the garment, the tell is the V-neck collar, white trim detailing. We read that, the neck label and the tag before we call one original.

The print gets you close, the colour finishes it
Every Newcastle jersey of the era was adidas, so the sponsor is the tell. Newcastle Brown Ale ended in 2000, NTL ran 2000/01 to 2002/03, and Northern Rock took over from 2003/04.
Newcastle United wore adidas with the Northern Rock print in 2003/04 and 2004/05. Only in 2004/05 was the away navy, sky blue and white, so the colour settles it. For 2004/05 the tell is the V-neck collar, white trim detailing.
The six checks we run on any jersey — the label code, the sleeve badge, the print, and what none of them prove.
What an early-2000s original costs — real asking prices, and the reproduction price an original has to clear.
